About Judy Glenney
Just as a brilliant diamond ring has many facets, so does Judy’s life. Her major in Physical Education at Pacific University, in Forest Grove OR, afforded her many opportunities to experience a wide variety of sports. However, this facet of her life did not begin to sparkle until she met a man (who later became her husband) that introduced her to the sport of weightlifting.
The radiance of this side of her life took off when she wanted to compete. Realizing there was no competition for women, she simply started the movement to get women’s weightlifting accepted as a bona fide sport. That eventually led her to achieve many national championships and several world championships at the masters’ level.
The point that sparkled brightest was her appointment as an official in weightlifting to the Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia. Putting all that experience to use, she taught weight training at Clark College in Vancouver, WA, for twenty years.
She continues to reside in Vancouver with her husband, Gary. While all that may shine brightly the aspect of this many faceted life she values most is her ministry. She is a featured speaker for Stonecroft Ministries, an organization she has been part of for many years. As a pastor’s wife, she enjoys the opportunity to teach children. However, she feels compelled to reach out to those who have yet to know the person they were designed to be through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Although she had written several articles and a manual on weightlifting, her debut as an author came about with her book, Mom, I’m A Girl, dealing with the death of her only son.
Uplifting Dreams carries a message of dreaming even though things may seem like dreams aren’t coming true.
Her radiant nature really shines as she speaks about God’s love in her life and how others can know and experience it as well.
Judy Glenney’s fascinating story of her interest in weightlifting reminds us we can be whatever we aspire to.
